Why Attend Outdoor Recreation

Our programs are well-loved by students for more than just the one-of-a-kind nature experiences.

  • De-stress and boost your mood: College life can feel high-pressure, and it’s important to find outlets to refresh. Many studies show that outdoor experiences and exercise have a calming effect on the body that can improve mood, fight feelings of anxiety and depression, and even help focus the mind.
  • Connect with new people: Make new friends who enjoy the same activities you do. Participants regularly call Outdoor Recreation programs some of the most memorable experiences they have during their time at NSU.
  • Experience nature like nowhere else: Florida is home to world-renowned shorelines and unique ecosystems. Make the most of the chance to see it all.
  • Take advantage of NSU perks: Activities are priced to ensure attendance is within reach for as many students are possible. Some of our offerings, like diving programs, are significantly more expensive outside of NSU.
